At Carima (formerly Erreka Grúas), we design, manufacture, and install ceiling lifts and transfer solutions to facilitate the care of people with reduced mobility. We create safe, comfortable, and functional systems, designed for every environment: residences, hospitals, day centers, homes, and more.
At Carima, we create assisted mobility solutions that guarantee safe and dignified transfers, connecting spaces seamlessly. Our commitment is to restore autonomy and confidence to individuals, as well as improve the quality of care, facilitating the work of professionals.
We envision a world where everyone can live with maximum autonomy, dignity, and well-being. We dream of environments designed for all, where movement is free, safe, and respectful.
At Carima, we believe that it’s not just what we do that matters, but also how we do it.
Our values are present in every decision, every project, and every person we support.
To truly listen and understand what each person needs in their daily life.
To offer up-to-date, functional solutions designed for real life.
In every detail of our products, services, and relationships.
In the way we work, communicate, and make decisions.
Because we want to contribute to a more accessible, inclusive, and fair world. We listen, advise, and support every project.
Carima was born out of a real need: to improve mobility, autonomy and the way in which people with disabilities are cared for.
It all began with Jabi Odriozola, an engineer specializing in assistive technologies and a pioneer in the installation of ceiling lifts in Spain. For years he led Erreka Grúas and witnessed firsthand the positive impact these ceiling lifts had on the lives of people with reduced mobility and on the daily work of their caregivers.
But she also saw how difficult it still was to perform basic tasks like going to the bathroom, showering, or getting dressed. Too many steps. Too many maneuvers. Too many obstacles. And then she knew: she had to take another step.
And with the aim of reinforcing and continuing what Erreka pioneered, Carima was born. A company specializing in designing and manufacturing transfer solutions that enable a smooth, safe, and dignified transfer. With a single, uninterrupted rail, connecting bed, chair, toilet, and shower in a continuous path.
Today, Carima is the result of more than 20 years of experience and a team committed to the same purpose: to improve the quality of life of people and facilitate the work of those who care.
We are part of the Qinera Group, an ecosystem of companies (Qinera, Adom, and Carima) dedicated to improving accessibility, care, and well-being for people. Qinera was founded in 2002 by Joaquín Romero after he was diagnosed with multiple sclerosis.
Joaquín not only created Qinera: he was also the driving force behind what is now Carima, and a leading figure in the fight for autonomy and inclusion for people with reduced mobility. His vision transformed the landscape of assistive technology in Spain, paving the way for more humane, accessible, and effective solutions.
His legacy lives on in every project we undertake. His portrait hangs in our factory as a symbol and a reminder of why we do what we do.
From that foundation, we continue to innovate. We design and manufacture systems that adapt to people, their spaces, and their routines, so that every transfer is safer, more comfortable, and more dignified. Because improving mobility is more than just making a transfer easier. It’s about providing better care, accompanying with empathy, and making a more autonomous life possible.
